Details
Today’s global positioning systems provide highly accurate location data. In industry, a GPS can help
you manage your fleet and increase efficiency. Wanco GPS, installed on equipment in the field, lets
you remotely monitor, control, and manage your Wanco message signs.
Two components are necessary for a functional GPS: a GPS transmitter and a receiving device.
Wanco GPS uses a cellular modem, which is assigned an active data service plan (essentially, a
phone number) that can be accessed (called) from any computer over an Internet connection.
Wanco supplies the GPS modem and can assist in setting up cellular service. The user must contract
with a cellular carrier (Verizon®, Sprint®, AT&T® or similar) and have access to a computer with an
Internet connection.
Wanco GPS offers persistent connection maintenance and remote management and control using
remote-access software. Administrators can configure when data are collected and transmitted.
The 16-channel GPS receiver constantly computes the vehicle location. Position reports are
transmitted over the cellular data network based on time and distance.
